Referrals to the Shop By Phone program can be made by health care professionals, family, or the clients themselves.

How the Shop By Phone Service Works
604-542-HELP or 604-542-4357

How It Works

Each Monday a volunteer will phone you to take your order. On Tuesday, a volunteer will shop for you. A delivery person will deliver your grocery order on Tuesday between 10:00am and 4:00 pm, and collect the delivery fee which is charged by the store.

Placing Orders

MONDAYS
Have your order prepared in advance, and ready when your phoner calls on Monday. Prepare your list according to the order form provided. Tell your phoner the size and brand of each item you order. Tell your phoner which items you will not accept as a substitute should your preference not be available. If there are any items missing from your order, it is usually because the items are not available. Remember that the items advertised on television are not always available in Canada. Frozen foods, such as ice cream, can be delivered - but only at your own risk as they tend to melt quickly

Delivery

TUESDAYS
Delivery is provided by the store for a nominal charge (subsidized by the store). Payments by cheque must be made at the time of delivery. Please remember the following:

1. Keep your phone free on Tuesday mornings so that the volunteer shopper can tell you about any changes in your order and give you a total owing.

2. Payments can be made by cheque only. The delivery driver does not carry cash. Please have your cheque ready at the time of delivery.

3.
Do not make any appointments for Tuesday. Some must be home when your order arrives. The store driver will not redeliver your order.

4. If you have trouble hearing your bell, please give your volunteer phoner the apartment number of a neighbour who can let the delivery man into the building or gated community.

The White Rock Shop By Phone Program is just one of the many fine community programs provided by the Peace Arch Community Services. All questions should be directed to 604-542-4357 Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm.
