Fraser Health is scheduling flu shot clinics starting October 15th for seniors (65+ years) and residents in long term care facilities. While seniors are at a lower risk of getting H1N1 flu virus, they are still the highest group for complications from seasonal flu. Subsidized housing developments are for people with low to moderate incomes, including seniors, and encompasses all types of housing whereby the provincial government provides some type of subsidy or rent assistance, including public, non-profit and co-operative housing, as well as rent supplements for people living in private market housing. |

HandyDART is a shared-ride public transit service. It uses specially equipped vehicles designed to carry passengers with physical or cognitive disabilities who are unable to use public transit without assistance. Passengers may telephone their local HandyDART operator to request a trip. HandyDART passengers are picked up at the outside door of their residence and dropped off at the outside door of their destination.

The White Rock Shop By Phone program exists to assist residents of White Rock and South Surrey who are unable to grocery shop for themselves due to short or long term illness or disability. Referrals to the Shop By Phone program can be made by health care professionals, family, or the clients themselves.

Peace Arch Community Services answers 30,000 calls for help each year. Volunteers drive for seniors and answer calls for information. Caring professionals work with families in distress. The food bank, treatment facilities, group homes, White Rock shop by phone programs and family and individual counselling services are among the many programs provided by Peace Arch Community Services. |

BC Transit and TransLink offer a Taxi Saver Program for handyDART registrants living in Vancouver, Victoria, and other B.C. municipalities. This program provides a 50 per cent subsidy toward the cost of taxi rides. Passengers use coupons for taxi travel by booking directly with a participating taxi company, without having to pre-plan the trip.
